Introduction to Bruxism – Some of the Common Symptoms and Ways to Control It

Bruxism is basically a fancy word for teeth grinding. It is a condition where people grind or clench their teeth unknowingly. Most commonly people suffering from Bruxism clench or grind their sleep during sleep. But there are some people who clench their teeth during the daytime too.

According to the statistics about 3 – 4 million people in the USA suffer from Bruxism. It is best to avoid drinks and food containing caffeine, especially during bed time. Products like soda, coffee, chocolate, should be avoided or at least not taken during bed time.

Strictly avoid alcohol. Teeth grinding can happen in severe intensity after consuming alcohol.

Do not chew on things like pen, pencil, or any other hard products which are not food items. If you are experiencing teeth grinding during the day time, you can train yourself to control the episode which can be very helpful.
